If you’re already working in community services and wondering what comes next, the CHC62015 Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management is one of the most direct routes into senior leadership in Australia’s fastest-growing sector. But what does that actually look like in practice? Is it the right move for where you are in your career?
Here’s everything you need to know about the qualification, what it takes to get in, and the doors it can open.
What Is the CHC62015?
The CHC62015 Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management is a nationally recognised qualification designed for experienced workers who are ready to step into management and leadership roles across the community services industry. It sits at the top end of the VET framework, above the Diploma of Community Services (CHC52021). It prepares graduates to operate with a high degree of autonomy, lead teams, manage programs, and drive strategic outcomes for their organisation.
The course covers a broad range of management competencies. These include strategic planning, financial management, risk management, workforce development, service delivery oversight, and organisational change.
Who Is This Course For?
This qualification is aimed at mid-to-senior level professionals in the community sector who are either already in a management role or actively working towards one. This includes team leaders, coordinators, or senior case managers in aged care, disability services, youth work, mental health, or a community-based organisation. Management roles are more engaging and take on a broader scope of responsibility.
It’s also well suited to internationally qualified professionals who are transitioning into the Australian community services system. CHC62015 is ideal for those seeking qualifications that support skilled migration pathways.
If you’re still earlier in your career, a better starting point would be the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021) or the Diploma of Community Services (CHC52021). The Advanced Diploma serves as a natural progression further down the track.

Program managers in the community sector are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating specific service programs. Operations Manager
In larger organisations, graduates move into operations management. This involves overseeing the day-to-day running of service delivery across multiple sites or teams. This role requires the financial, risk, and workforce management skills the course is specifically designed to build.
Team Leader or Senior Coordinator

These business might play a key role in supporting smaller organisations with compliance, governance, and service design.
